Demonstration Alerts

The Embassy seeks to provide available information on public demonstrations and disturbances as a service to the community. We also recommend that visitors and residents pay attention to media reports in Nepal. Demonstrations in Kathmandu frequently occur on or near university campuses (map).

Current Alerts:

November 21 2007 -- The Maoists have called an indefinite closure of the Siraha district, located in eastern Nepal, demanding immediate release of their district cadres who were arrested by police on October 21, 2007 and charged with the murder of Nepali Congress member Ananda Kumar Yadav.
