Chargé d’Affaires, a.i.

Randy Berry serves temporarily as Charge d’Affaires, a.i., of the U.S. Embassy in Nepal.  He was previously Deputy Chief of Mission in Kathmandu from 2007 until June 2009, when he was posted to Auckland, New Zealand as Consul General.  He will return to that position in New Zealand at the conclusion of his duty in Nepal.  

Berry entered the Foreign Service in 1993, and has previously served in Bangladesh (1993-1995), Egypt (1996-1998), Uganda (1998-2002), and South Africa (2003-2007).  He has also worked at the Department of State in Washington DC (2002-2003).    


Berry is a native of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, and was raised on a cattle ranch in Custer County.  He is a graduate of Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas, and pursued graduate studies at the University of Adelaide, South Australia as a Rotary Foundation Scholar.
