Economic/Commercial Section

Overview

The Economic/Commercial Section at the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu advises the Ambassador and the U.S. Government on economic, labor, science, and technology issues and the U.S.-Nepal economic relationship.

We also offer a number of services to businesses to promote trade between the United States and Nepal.  Services range from complimentary overviews to tailor-made services for a fee.  The list of specialized, fee-based commercial services available to U.S. businesses is below.

The Economic/Commercial Section partners with the U.S. Commercial Service, located in Kathmandu, Nepal, to expand the commercial services and resources we are able to provide to interested parties.  Please visit the U.S. Commercial Service Nepal site to gain a better understanding of their efforts at: http://www.buyusa.gov/nepal/en.

To best support U.S. companies seeking trade and investment opportunities, we annually update our County Commercial Guide (CCG) for general use by the U.S. business community. The Commerce Department's Commercial Service Offices overseas traditionally prepare CCGs, but in smaller markets, the Department of State's Economic and Commercial Sections prepare the reports.  All CCGs are stored in the Commercial Service Market Research Database, which can be found at: www.export.gov.  The reports are available by clicking here.
