Acting Public Affairs Officer talks to Biratnagar students

March 11, 2010

U.S. Embassies around the world are committed to protecting the interests and securities of U.S. citizens overseas. In a transitional country like Nepal, safety, security, and health issues are paramount. But foreign residents here also want to know more about their visas to Nepal, U.S. visas for their Nepalese friends, and how changes to Indian tourist visa rules might affect their and their loved ones travel. The Embassy's Consular Section conducted a town hall meeting to address these and other emergency and non-emergency questions affecting U.S. citizens in Nepal. With short presentations and a question and answer session, participants discussed earthquake preparedness, the Embassy's role in an emergency, H1N1 flu, safety and security, the importance of registering with the U.S. Embassy, and visa issues.
