Public Affairs Kathmandu Continues Outreach in Remote Area of Nepal

During their time in Upper Mustang (approx 3,800 meters above sea level), Ambassador Nancy J. Powell, Kathmandu’s Public Affairs Officer Mark Larsen, and other officials of the U.S. Mission visited the Lo-Manthang Community Library and Information Center, which is under construction and scheduled to open in two months.   The Ambassador presented a set of IIP publications’ ‘The American Outline Series’ to the formal Village Development Committee Chairman and Library executive member, Pema Wandi.

On a separate occasion, U.S. Embassy officials also visited the Puthang Community and Information Center in Jomsom (approximately 2,700 meters above sea level).  During this visit the Public Affairs Officer presented a set of IIP publications’ ‘The American Outline Series’ for the library.  This library gets an average of 60 youth visitors every day.
