May 22, 2009
Public Affairs Kathmandu’s American Library screened The Insider to commemorate World Press Freedom Day. Public Affairs Officer Mark Larsen welcomed the audience of 30 journalism students and teachers from Madan Bhandari Memorial College, Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Kathmandu. He spoke about World Press Freedom Day and then screened the movie, which depicts the chain of events that pitted an ordinary man against the tobacco industry. It portrays the heroic struggle by several journalists and a whistleblower driven to expose the truth for the public good, in spite of attempts to suppress it. The library director also briefed the guests on the resources available at the American Library.
