May 9, 2009
Public Affairs Kathmandu’s Cultural Affairs Specialist (CAS) briefed Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association’s (NELTA) newly elected central executive committee members on the Embassy’s English teaching support programs. In an interaction program organized by NELTA, the CAS informed the committee members about the extended term of Nepal’s first English Language Fellow (ELF) for another ten months starting September 2009. The ELF’s extended period will be divided between NELTA and the School of Education, Kathmandu University. The CAS handed over the confirmation letters regarding the ELF renewal to the representatives of both the receiving institutes. During the interaction the CAS discussed the various professional development opportunities and exposure visits that NELTA members have been able to access through the Embassy. The NELTA members expressed their gratefulness for the English Teaching Forums they receive from the Embassy, saying they are an excellent practical resource for NELTA members who work in the outlying parts of Nepal. More copies have been requested from different NELTA branches.
"The trainings conducted by the ELF in different NELTA branches have been highly received by the members and similar trainings have been requested from many other branches."
