US Policy Goal: A Peaceful, Prosperous, and Democratic Nepal

Public Affairs Kathmandu arranged for Political-Economics Officer William Martin to speak at the Nepal Council of World Affairs. Mr. Martin addressed an audience of fifty-five, speaking from prepared notes about general U.S. policy goals and how they have been reflected in speeches and statements over the past three years. He then answered questions on a wide range of topics, including Assistant Secretary Blake's recent visit, the designation of the UCP-N Maoists as terrorists, Tibetan issues, relations between the U.S. and China, and relations between the U.S., India, and Nepal.
