PAS Kathmandu’s American Library Takes Lead in 5th annual Nepal Library Day Celebrations

To celebrate the 5th annual National Library Day of Nepal on August 31st, Public Affairs Kathmandu’s American Library partnered with the Nepal Library Association and other library organizations to host a program that was attended by the Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Keshav Man Shakya, Secretary of Ministry of Education, U.S. Embassy Information Officer Robert Domaingue, representatives of The Asia Foundation, library professionals, senior government officials and dignitaries. Mr. Domaingue spoke about the importance of libraries to a democratic society and the U.S. Embassy’s continued support for the development of libraries in Nepal.  He also announced the opening of a seventh American Corner, in the Midwestern region of Surkhet, emphasizing the role the American Library and American Corners to support the country’s democratic development, peace, and prosperity.
