Public Affairs Kathmandu conducted a program at the American Embassy on September 17 to mark U.S. Constitution Day. Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Lee Hess gave introductory remarks, after which the Nepal director of the American Bar Association, Dave Sadoff, and Nepali constitutional law expert Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya shed light on the background, strengths, contributions and unique features of American constitution. They highlighted important aspects, including the separation of powers and checks and balances, suggesting that Nepal could draw lessons for its own constitution-writing process.

Following the presentations and a video documentary on the American Constitution, journalists and students engaged with the experts in an active discussion.
