Public Affairs Donates Books at Inauguration of School Library in Duwachaur

 October 15, 2009

Cultural Affairs Officer Amanda S. Jacobsen inaugurated the Edward J. Miller, Jr. Memorial School Library established at the local Balsudhar Secondary School in Duwachaur, a village at the edge of the Kathmandu Valley.  She also presented 100 books to the library on behalf of the U.S. Embassy.  The Himalayan Foundation Corporation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people and ecology of the Himalaya, established the library in memory of the late Edward J. Miller, Jr, who had visited Nepal before his death and fallen in love with the country.  In her remarks CAO Jacobsen acknowledged that the library project was the result of the dedication and effort of many partnering organizations and individuals, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the District Education Office, the local Village Development Committee, Child Nepal, The Australian Embassy, and the parents and other residents of Duwachuar.
