PHOTO EXHIBIT

July 12, 2005

The American Embassy invites you to an exhibition of photography titled "Brief Encounters" by embassy officer Holly Holzer. The exhibit opens Wednesday July 13 at 5:30 pm at Sidhartha Art Gallery in Baber Mahal Revisited.

A serious photographer for the past five years, Holly has been with the American Embassy since fall 2003.  The diversity of Nepali culture and people offer a rich palate for her photography.  For her, photographs capture a moment in time and provide an avenue for creating connections with people and places.  Using both color and black and white film, the photos share her experiences in and her impressions of Nepal.  She has also shown her work in Chicago and California.

Ambassador James F. Moriarty will open the exhibition, whose proceeds will benefit the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust.  Through the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation, the Embassy has given more than $120,000 to KVPT for restoration of four temple complexes in Kathmandu Durbar Square.
