U.S. Mission Closed for Thanksgiving
The U.S. Mission to Nepal will be closed on Thursday, November 22 for Thanksgiving, a national holiday in the United States. The Chancery, USAID and the Consular and Public Affairs Sections are among the components of the Mission that are now located at the new Embassy compound in Maharajgunj.
Each year on the fourth Thursday in November, families across the United States gather at their homes to share a meal in thanksgiving for the good fortune of the last year. It is a historic national holiday first celebrated by early European settlers to North America, the Pilgrims.
