Proof of Citizenship and Identity

Proof of citizenship may be a U.S. birth certificate, certificate of Naturalization, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a ten-year passport issued after you were 16 years of age or a five-year passport issued to you as a child. A limited number of other types of proof of citizenship may be accepted at the discretion of the consular officer, if required by extenuating circumstances. Contact the consular section directly if you have any questions about your evidence of citizenship.

Proof of identity may be any government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or State ID. Passports (unless specifically annotated against it) may be used as proof. Please be advised that some Nepali documents may not be sufficient on their own to establish identity.
