Important Security Announcement for American Citizens in Nepal

The Prime Minister fired the Chief of Army Staff for the Nepal Army earlier today.  The YCL, a splinter group of the Maoist Party, has called for a rally in Ratna Park at 3pm this afternoon.  The Embassy has ordered all official Americans and their family members home as a safety precaution and all non-essential travel has been canceled. Private American citizens in Nepal are advised to exercise extreme caution, especially if traveling around Ratna Park this afternoon and to avoid demonstrations if they come upon them.
