Advice regarding the health assessment

  1. Do not conceal medical conditions. Deliberate attempts to hide them will be reported to the Embassy.
  2. Do not conceal pregnancy. Pregnancy will not affect your immigration prospects, however, some immunizations are contradicted during pregnancy and could harm your baby.
  3. Abstain from drinking alcohol on the day before the examination.
  4. Note that your whole body will be examined. Please maintain proper hygiene.
  5. Postpone or re-schedule your appointment if you or your child is acutely ill with a high fever or rash.
  6. If you use glasses or contact lens, please bring them to the health assessment.

Should the general examination reveal the need for additional tests, the applicant will be responsible for the extra charges.

Applicants who suffer or have suffered from a chronic illness or have had a serious operation in the past should bring medical reports with them and present them to the examining physician.

United States immigration law requires that immigrant visa applicants obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to issuance of an immigrant visa.  Panel physicians will verify that immigrant visa applicants have met those requirements.

Mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, pertussis, influenza type B (HIB), hepatitis B (up to 18 years of age), varicella, pneumococcal, influenza, rotavirus, hepatitis A, meningococcal, human papillomavirus (HPV) and zoster, and acellular pertussis (10-64 years).

Applicants should make their vaccination records, if any, available for the panel physician’s review at the time of the medical examination.  If you do not have a vaccination record, the panel physician will work with you to determine which vaccinations you may need to meet the requirements.  Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.  Please note that vaccination fees are not included in the fees listed above.  Applicants will be responsible for all fees associated with each vaccination to be administered.

The Embassy-approved physician will send your medical report directly to the U.S. Embassy for the interviewing consular officer's review.
