Important Security Announcement for American Citizens in Nepal

The Regional Security Office of the U.S. Embassy has lifted the caution issued on May 28 that arose from a bombing incident on May 23, 2009 at the Church of the Assumption, a Roman Catholic Church located in Kathmandu.  The blast resulted in three deaths and 14 injured.  According to local authorities, those involved in the attack have been either arrested or have fled to India.  At this time, no known specific threats exist for American citizens attending religious or prayer gatherings.
