Important Security Announcement for American Citizens in Nepal

The Regional Security Office of the U.S. Embassy has informed that Maoist protesters have started to form in key intersections throughout Kathmandu valley. Early this morning in the Kathmandu city center tires have been set on fire to block intersections and clashes between the protesters and police have been reported. More clashes are expected throughout the day. American citizens are advised to monitor the situation closely on local media outlets, and to stay in your homes and hotels and not move throughout the area unless absolutely necessary.
